Halloween: The Video Game Discussion

In summer 2025 it was announced that a single player and multiplayer Halloween video game would be released in September 2026. I wanted to write a post discussing my hopes for the game and explore some hypothetical concepts for the game.

One thing I’m hoping for in the game is for Loomis to have a bigger role in the game than just the voice acting we have heard in the previews so far. One hypothetical concept for how Loomis can be utilized in the game is as an ally by calling him in for support and having one of the players assume the role of Dr. Loomis similar to what was done with Tommy Jarvis in Friday The 13th: The Game. By having Loomis be utilized as an ally for Survivors in the multiplayer aspect of the game, he creates a strong defense for players and also connects more to the lore of the original film. Another concept for how Loomis can be utilized in the game could also reinforce the games story mode which aims to fill in gaps to the story of the original 1978 film. There could be more scenes with Loomis in the single player story which elevate Loomis’s story and his connections to Michael. Overall Dr. Loomis should be used in some sort of crucial way to the game and how it functions similar to his presence in the film. I also believe Laurie should be present in the game but the focus should be specific to Michael hunting and Loomis trying to find Michael in terms of story

Another thing I am hoping for the game is that it has a successful and fruitful longevity and does not die prematurely like Friday The 13th and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre video games. I believe this will be done if the single player has an interesting way to play through the films story and the multiplayer is consistently updated and supported. I also believe if the game is successful that expanding this game beyond the original 1978 film to elements from the other Halloween films and timelines would generate further interest and longevity for the game. There is endless scenes from all the films which can be replicated for creative gameplay scenarios and also heightened with new moments not previously featured in those environments in the films.

My main concerns for the game currently is how it will compete with the multiplayer horror giant Dead By Daylight and how Michael being removed from that game will impact how people view and critique the new game. I hope people do not use Michael leaving Dead By Daylight as a reason to judge this new game. Overall, I feel like a single player story exclusive game would have been a better focus but find the combination of single and multiplayer options to be a win-win for people on both sides. I also hope this game does good so Dead By Daylight has proper competition which can positively shape the future of multiplayer horror and inspire more titles. As much as I love Dead By Daylight, I want it to have proper competition and I feel like Halloween could be big enough for it. Halloween: The Game has a shot at expanding the bounds of multiplayer horror or letting it down completely.
